RE: StarWin3, StarWin3-StarLog, MM3000 INFORMATION
The MM3000 CONTROLLER is a replacement for the DIMENSION CONTROLLER no longer manufactured by EUROTHERM CONTROLS. The MM3000 is a replacement controller, that communicates with the existing STARWIN 3 software program. The rear terminal board, as viewed in the figure above, allows for plug and play capability with the DIMENSION CONTROLLER, except for power to the unit. The +24Vdc power supply in the oven supplies power to the controller through a small 3 pin connection instead of the large 3 pin connection used with 120Vac. The unit consists of 3 circuit boards: System Control Bd., I/O Expansion Bd. and Digital I/O Bd.
1. StarWin3 is only available on a CD Rom, RESEARCH INT'L. P/N 104336-001
StarWin3 and StarWin3-StarLog Software is only available on a CD Rom, RESEARCH INT'L. P/N 104336-002 see attached or O:\AADhome\Software\Starwin3\Current\Readme.txt file for loading software on a CD. The StarWin3-StarLog Software combination package is shipped with all MicRIflo ovens.
2. Attached is the current RevHistory for StarWin3 and StarWin3-StarLog, also found on the CD that is created from step one.
3. Thad has a manual for StarWin3, Research Int'l. P/N 102760-001. Some of the manual may be obsolete due to recent changes: Metric units now work, software is on a CD rom, not floppy disks, if software is damaged, a Restore Backup Cfg. Files can be used from the previous day to configurate the controller, default recipes shipped with the oven are the ones used by the Test Dept. No manual exist yet for StarWin3-StarLog.
4. StarWin3 started shipping about 4/3/2000 with the MM3000 Controller on all ovens. StarWin3-StarLog will ship with all MicRIflo ovens and is a option on Thermaflo ovens. The previous controller, DIMENSION, will also run the software presently shipping.
5. The MM3000 Controller will be able to run StarWin2. Autoload will not work with MM3000 Controller. A new program to transfer the configuration program will be available. In the mean time, a number of refurbished DIMENSION Controllers, 099323R003, 099323R002, 099322R003, 099322R002 and 091108R003 and 091108R002 exist.
6. We are planning to run StarWin1 on the MM3000 Controller. More info to follow.
7. Installation of the MM3000 Controller, P/N 103866-001, MFLO, TFLO Ovens, requires attaching to angle bracket with two bolts, as the previous controller did, and drilling two holes in the floor panel and fastening with 8/32 x 5/8" bolts. Two additional standoffs, P/N 078321-004 are needed, due to the extra height of this controller versus the DIMENSION, before the cover can be placed over the controller. We used 12 pin connectors for the T/C inputs, a small 3 pin connector for the +24Vdc to power the MM3000 Controller and the rest of the connections are identical to the DIMENSION CONTROLLER connections. Retrofit Kit Research Int'l. P/N 104681-00x.
8. Loading Software in the MM3000 Controller requires StarWin3 to be loaded on the computer first. Verify the communications cable is attached between MM3000 Controller and computer, apply power. If using a computer, MM3000 Controller and +24Vdc power supply outside the oven, the communications cable wiring: pin 2 to 3, pin 3 to 2 and pin 5 to 5 between two 9-pin receptacles. (Research Int'l. P/N for the cable: 094893-001 and qty. 1, 9 pin hood 081341-001 to provide strain relief protection is available for in-house use). Use EXPLORER, select Starwin3 directory, run MMINIT.EXE. This executable file will place generic configuration files for all ovens in the controller. Exit EXPLORER, start StarWin3, enter oven SERIAL NUMBER, CUSTOMER NAME, select oven type, enter MASTER PASSWORD USERNAME and MASTER PASSWORD, we use RESEARCH and select appropriate Engineering Units
9. A DEMO mode for StarWin3 exists, which will allow you to run StarWin3 without a controller, etc. Make a copy of the existing StarWin3 icon, then select Properties and change the path to: C:\Starwin3\Starwin3.exe /demo. (Must have a space between .exe and /demo. Rename this icon SW3DEMO. Run the Demo, acknowledge Recipe and Bd. Fall messages), enter something for S/N, Customer Name, Passwords, etc., after NEXT, at the 2nd screen, do not move OVENCF.DAT to the right side, just select YES. Recipe DataBase Already Exists, Overwrite, choose -YES, Controller DataBase Already Exists, choose - YES. Now restart Starwin Demo Program, Cannot Find Recipe During Last Session, select - OK, Bd. Fall Not Disabled - O.K. Enter a User Name and Password. StarWin3 Demo program is now running.
10. To calibrate conveyor speed adjust and to calibrate width adjust, exit StarWin3, make a copy of the existing StarWin3 icon, select the new icon you just created, right click, select Properties and change the path to: C:\Starwin3\Starwin3.exe /CCA (allow a space between .exe and /CCA). Rename this icon StarWin3-CCA. Use the new table displayed on the OPERATOR screen to monitor: CCA Actual & Setpoint speeds, CNV-OUT percent, CCA % and Width Velocity inches per minute. <REMOVE THIS ICON FROM THE COMPUTER SCREEN WHEN CALIBRATION IS COMPLETED, to prevent confusion for the customer.
11. When using StarWin3 and moving a computer from one type of oven to another to change oven types, instead of reloading StarWin3 so the oven type selection screen will appear, do the following:
Apply power to the computer, select START, RUN, type REGEDIT and choose OK, a Registry Editor will be displayed, select HKEY_CURRENT_USER, select Software, then VB and VBA Program Settings, next Starwin3, select Startup. A list of default information will be displayed in the right window of the Registry Editor. Scroll down through the alphabetical listing and select FirstTime. With the left mouse key, double click, a editor will automatically start up, change no to yes (use small case letters), select OK and exit the Registry Editor. Start up StarWin3 and enter information asked for, selecting the correct type of oven for the new setup.
12. When placing the MM3000 Controller in a early version of StarWin3 oven that was using a DIMENSION Controller and does not have a MMINIT file, do the following:
If someone calls about a problem with Starwin 3 and MM3000, where the error shows memory allocation errors check the Terminal on/off condition in DIMSRIP.ini by doing the following:
1) From initial computer boot up go to START
2) Go to PROGRAMS
3) Go to WINDOWS EXPLORER
4) Go to WINDOWS
5) Find the file called DIMSRIP.ini
6) Switch terminal mode from ON to OFF(All Caps)
7) Hit FILE and SAVE
This needs to be done if MM.init is not on the system.
